December…A month of happiness and joy…December 25th is the day that Christians across the world have set aside to honor the birth of Jesus Christ. Many people refute the date, saying that the 25th is not Christ’s actual birth. Some say that Christ’s birth was actually in the summer months. I’m not going to argue the point one way or the other because for me, it is a day that we set aside, so we can celebrate the birth of our precious Savior.
Many will not spend the day with family or friends. Many have no one to spend the day with. Some will actually find themselves saddened because their loved ones are no longer here to celebrate with. Some people are homeless. Some people don’t have jobs. Please take the time to show love and compassion to them during the holiday season.
Some people will use December 25th as a way to spend thousands of dollars that they don’t actually have to buy presents and gifts for others and then take the next six months to pay off debt that they incurred to see brief smiles on their friends and loved ones faces. Don’t allow yourself to get caught in the hype…Christmas is not about gift giving.
For me, December 25th will be a day of reflection. A day of honor for the little baby Jesus who came into the world, born in a manger, with no place to lay his sweet head, to save sinners like me and like you. I am grateful for the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I encourage you seek the true meaning of Christmas in your own life. It’s not about the presents or gifts that we receive, it’s about the birth of Jesus!
Happy Birthday, Jesus! Merry Christmas, Everyone!
